Simple Present Tense

>To give instructions or direction

Example :
You walk for two hundred meters, then you turn left.

>To express fixed arrangements, present future

Example :
They exam starts at 07.00

>For repeated actions or events

Example :

  • We catch the bus every morning
  • It rains every afternoon in the cool season

>For habits

Example :
  • She drinks juice at breakfast
  • He only eats fruit's

>For general truths

Example :
  • The sun rises in the east

>For instructions or directions

Example :
  • Open the packet and pour the contents into hor water
  • You take the No.2 bus to Watney and then the No.10 to Bedford

>For fixed arrangements :

Example :
  • His sister arrives tomorrow
  • Our holiday starts on the 09th August

>Adverb of Time

Example :
  • At dinner time, Adit always sits down with his family
  • Siska never met Auliya
  • Agra played football everyday
  • I often eat in restaurant
  • I seldom read book at home
  • My sister usually serves meat, vegetables, and potatoes
  • I sometimes see him in the park


A. VERBAL SENTENCE

Affirmative Form
S + V1 (-s/-es) + Object

Negative Form
S + do/does + not + V1 + Object

Interrogative Form
Do/DOes + S + V1 + Object ?

1. Verbs ending in -y :
the third person changes the -y to -ies

fly > flies, cry > cries

Exception : if there is a vowel before the -y

play > plays, pray > prays

2. Add -es to verbs ending in :
-ss, -x, -sh, -ch :

Example :
  • he passes
  • she catches
  • he fixes
  • it pushes

B. NON VERBAL SENTENCES

Affirmative Form
S + to be + noun/adjective/adverb

Negative Form
S + to be + not + noun/adjective/adverb

Interrogative Form
To be + S + noun/adjective/adverb ?
